Ending Slavery: A Juneteenth Celebration

A very special “Du Bois at 50” event that featured:

  • The legendary band Magpie, who recently released The Civil War: Songs & Stories Untold
  • Pittsfield’s acclaimed Youth Alive Step Team
  • Ulysses S. Grant scholar and performer Steve Trimm
  • David Levinson, co-author of On the Other Side of Glory: The Berkshire Men of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment
  • Scott Christianson, author of Freeing Charles: The Struggle to Free a Slave on the Eve of the Civil War, and others.

It was a day of commemoration, reflection, and celebration.
